Mr. Jonny Baxter
British Deputy High Commissioner, Lagos
Mr. Jonny Baxter was appointed British Deputy High Commissioner (BDHC) in Lagos in August 2023. He serves as a senior diplomat and adviser, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the British Deputy High Commission and representing UK interests across trade and investment, development, and consular affairs. He is a highly experienced diplomat with over two decades of experience in international development, diplomacy, and public service. Prior to his current role, Jonny served as His Majesty's Ambassador to South Sudan (January 2021 – July 2023) and as Deputy Director, Finance and Performance Department at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (then DFID) from 2018 to 2020. He has also held several senior roles within DFID, including Head of the Human Development Department (2017–2018), Principal Private Secretary to the Secretary of State (2014–2016), and Head of the Higher Education Taskforce Secretariat (2013–2014), all based at DFID Headquarters in London.
Mrs. Bolaji Sofoluwe MBE
Managing Director, ETK
Bolaji Sofoluwe MBE is an international trade, market expansion, and business growth expert with more than 20 years of experience spanning consulting, banking, strategy, research, and international development. As Group Managing Director of ETK Group, she has led projects in over 32 African countries, helping businesses, governments, development finance institutions, and donor-funded programmes drive sustainable growth and expand into new markets. Under her leadership, ETK Group has become a recognised authority on African market entry and international trade, earning multiple UK Government Export Champion recognitions and the prestigious King's Award for Enterprise in International Trade in 2026. Bolaji also serves as a Non-Executive Director and Advisory Board Member to several organisations and is an Entrepreneurship Expert at the Entrepreneurship Centre, Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. In recognition of her contributions to female entrepreneurship, sustainable business growth, and UK–Africa trade, she was awarded an MBE in the 2025 New Year Honours List. She is widely recognised as a leading voice on African trade, investment, and economic development.
Mr. Brent Barnette
Director of Sustainability, ETK
With more than 20 years of experience leading technology-enabled transformation programmes, Brent has spent the past eight years helping businesses and governments respond to the challenges and opportunities created by climate change. His work spans economic development, climate resilience, access to finance, organisational transformation, and risk management across Africa, the Caribbean, and Latin America. Brent is the lead developer of Momentum, a platform that connects organisational capacity, climate resilience, and measurable development outcomes.
